NEW Marcelle Potholder
NEW Marcelle Potholder
Classic and lovely, the Marcelle collection brightens any kitchen or dining scene.
Navy blue ticking on one side, heathered grey on the other.
About 7 inches x 10 inches, the Marcelle Potholder is long, making it the potholder of choice for protecting surfaces from larger hot serveware.
With its multi-layered insulation, sturdy organic cotton/hemp fabric, and generous size, this handmade potholder is the hero of both kitchen and table. Sewn in the PNW.
True Beauty: The batting, thread, and fabrics are made of organic cotton, hemp, &/or bamboo, so toxic chemicals were avoided in the production of these natural materials. The heathered fabric was created by upcycling unused scraps leftover at the mills, reducing waste and creating a uniquely beautiful & eco-friendly fabric.
Care: Hand wash or machine wash gentle cold; hang to dry. Iron if desired, using a cover cloth.
Fabrics made of recycled organic cotton and hemp
Why hemp? Hemp grows very fast in any type of climate without exhausting the soil. It naturally doesn’t require much water or the use of pesticides or herbicides, so organic methods are inherent in its production. Hemp is known as one of the strongest fibers there is; also for its absorbency, high heat conductivity, and abrasion resistance. Plus, the more hemp is washed, the softer it gets. All of this makes hemp an excellent choice for heirloom-quality products like Beautiful Ingredient table linens.
Why organic cotton? By choosing organic cotton over conventional, we are choosing nontoxic, sustainable processes. While cotton production generally relies heavily on agro-chemicals that can end up polluting and threatening the health of farmers, water systems, soil, etc., there are no such chemicals used in the making of organic cotton, which goes through the organic certification and inspection processes regularly to ensure standards are met.
Why recycled? The recycled fibers in the fabrics we use would be destined for landfills if they weren’t “rescued” as unused cuttings from organic cotton/hemp mills and sewing factories. By recycling instead, the unique and beautiful “heathered" appearance is achieved.
